Head of the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) Emmaculate Kasait has emotionally shared how departed Rosemary Koech-Kimwatu dropped everything to console them after their son's death.

Beloved Rosemary was the Head of Data Protection unit at KCB bank and the country was shaken after news of her death, right there in her house, emerged.

Kasait and Tiaty MP William Kamket sadly lost their 13-year-old son, Bill Ballot Kassait Jnr, on March 17, 2026, due to asthma complications.

The teen was named "Ballot" because he was born around the time his mother was managing electoral processes at the IEBC during the 2013 General Elections. The death of the teen brought his family intense pain and Rosemary was among the mourners that stood by the family.

Kasait was among the speakers who took to the podium during a memorial mass held at the Nairobi Chapel to eulogise the life of the departed Data Protection executive at KCB.

"Rosemary took one-week leave to come and help us in Baringo when we lost our childand was present every single day. On the day of the burial, she came with a collection of lipstick and had everyone to line up and try it for her friend," said Kasait.

"The second example and why we connected was getting children when we were not supposed to; I got my first child in university and she got her first child in university First Year. Our commonality was trying to juggle between motherhood and the profession; you have to express milk and trying to breatsfeed kids who don't sleep at night and you have to show up for a board meeting in the morning,"she added.

Kasait shared that they found comfort in each other during the challenging times in their professions and they Chemu also shared her life with Kasait.

Kasait also fondly remembered how the fallen lawyer arranged a surprise party during privacy day and caught her offguard in a dera.

"That was Chemu, she shared her family, children and professional life with you," said Kasait.
