Senator Dr. Danson Mungatana and his wife, Hon. Mwanaisha Chidzuga, Kenya's Deputy Government Spokesperson, are mourning the death of their youngest daughter, Amal Mghoi Mungatana, who passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, aged just eight years.

The family confirmed the loss through an announcement shared on Facebook on September 14, revealing that Amal died while receiving treatment at Gertrude's Children's Hospital in Muthaiga, Nairobi.

A Short Life Marked by Courage

Born in 2018, Amal had faced health struggles from the very beginning of her life. Her family sought medical care for her both within Kenya and at facilities abroad over the course of eight years, hoping for a breakthrough that would restore her fully to health.

Despite the challenges, the family described the young girl as a source of joy to everyone around her. In moments when her health allowed, she brought warmth and smiles that the family said touched their hearts deeply.

"We loved her but God loved her more," the family said in their announcement.

Burial Set for Ngao Village

Following Amal's passing, the Mungatana family has gathered at their home in Ngao Village, Tana River County, where funeral arrangements are underway. She is set to be laid to rest on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the same village.

Senator Mungatana represents Tana River County in the Senate, while his wife Mwanaisha Chidzuga serves as Deputy Government Spokesperson, a role that places her among the senior communications figures in the Kenyan government. The couple's loss has drawn an outpouring of condolences from Kenyans following the announcement.j
